Imported Artists welcomes Seyi Peter Thomas

Imported Artists is pleased to announce exclusive Canadian representation of New York based director Seyi Peter Thomas through our US affiliate Station Film.

Seyi (pronounced Shay) began his film education with entry into the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts, alma mater of Dave Chapelle. There, Seyi developed his passion for filmmaking which led him to film school at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. After NYU, Seyi landed a job at MTV On Air Promos as a producer on multiple award winning commercials and campaigns. Although he was a successful producer, (for example, winning an Emmy for his work on The Kaiser Foundation’s Condom Factory PSAs), his true passion was directing. Soon he moved into writing and directing some of the networks biggest spots, branded content and PSA's.

As a director at MTV, he has filmed everything from talking koala bears to noted Princeton scholar Cornel West. Recently, he directed an epic award winning campaign featuring Russell Brand, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and others for The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. He also recently finished a campaign, in collaboration with Joel Schumacher for the channel’s Digital Abuse initiative. The results were so successful, the campaign was featured and noted by President Barack Obama.

Recently, Seyi’s work has been honored in Shoot Magazine’s 2010 New Director’s Showcase (click for article) and read all about Seyi's move to Station Films in the article from Screen Magazine (click for the article). Click here to see Seyi's reel

Jesse Shamata's LCBO gets a shout out from Media In Canada

Val Maloney of Brunico's Media In Canada site recently posted about Jesse Shamata's work for the LCBO. The interactive campaign (which can be seen here) shows through a series of vignettes the efforts of three guys to enjoy a "Guys Night In" despite the intrusions of a not always welcome fourth wheel in the form of an obnoxious Trillionaire, Sportscaster or Country Singer depending on what combination gets clicked, always with surprising results.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from all of us at Imported Artists, all the best to everyone in 2012!
