Gloria Kim wins at Sprockets International Film Festival

Congratulations to Gloria Kim for her recent win at the 12th Annual Sprockets Film Festival here in Toronto.  Gloria's new short film, "The Auction", took one of two Audience awards at the event.

The film, set in 1970s, tells the heartwarming story of eight-year-old Meehee Park, the daughter of immigrants from Korea.  Meehee hopes that getting a Cindy doll for Christmas will help her fit in, but realizing that her parents can’t afford the gift, is forced to put all her hopes and meagre savings into an upcoming neighbourhood auction where one of the dolls will available for bidding.

A division of the Toronto International Film Festival Group, Sprockets is an initiative that offers children and youth the opportunity to learn about cultural perspectives from around the world through the power of the moving image.

Further congratulations also go to Gloria for being a recipient of the latest round of grants from the Canada Council of the Arts.  We look forward to seeing what's next!

Sam Brown and Jesper Ericstam in Shots

Jesper Ericstam and Sam Brown find themselves in the company of Frank Budgen and Spike Jonze for the Latest Videos section of this weeks Shots newsletter with new spots for NV Swedish Education and Audi respectively.

In the NV spot an armada of jubilant children descend upon a trailer offering free candy ending with the exclusion of one unlucky cherub.  Jesper's canny instinct for capturing the inner maelstrom of juvenile excitement and disappointment plays to great effect throughout the spot.

Sam's incredibly choreographed spot for Audi features a fleet of unwieldly 1940's stock cars challenging the maneuverability of the R8 Spyder.  The crash worthy kamikaze's do their best to take out the sleek £140, 000 roadster but prove to be no match for its prowess, though not for lack of trying or adrenalin packed close calls.  Sign up for the Shots newsletter here and see the spots here.  For the Shots article featuring how Sam Brown put the production together go to our PRESS section.
