Bobby Kirkland

Title: "The Sweaty Man"
Client: Bewaterwise.com

Having to move from South Korea to Canada at an early age, Bobby's gravitation toward visual storytelling was born out of necessity amidst the language barrier. His proficiency in visual realm was evident early on, as he garnered several Canadian and US awards with an animation short that he completed for one of his high school classes.

Upon receiving his bachelor's degree in communication design at Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver, Bobby began working as a graphic designer at Dobe Entertainment, in Seoul, Korea, where he was first introduced to the world of film and commercial production.

Instantly taking a liking to the new visual medium, and after a brief stint as the company's casting director, Bobby relocated to Southern California to pursue his newfound way of storytelling.

In addition to having worked as a freelance editor and web designer during his stay in SoCal, Bobby has also directed a number of commercials, including a DesignMatters/Bewaterwise.com sponsored PSA, which has been internationally praised and has since screened at various water conservation conferences throughout the world.

Recently, Bobby has moved back to Toronto with his wife after receiving his master's degree at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where at the graduate level he was named the school's Best Director of 2009.
