After moving from his birthplace of Sweden to Vancouver in mid 1980’s, Robert began his career as an art director. He progressed quickly through the local scene and was utilized almost immediately by numerous A-list international commercial directors.
It was not long before he began directing himself, and after signing with the Artist Company, he devoted himself to the craft full time. Robert joined Bruce Dowad Associates in 1995. Within a year he was helming spots for various clients as well as music videos and short films, including the 10-minute acclaimed film Vexation Island with artist Rodney Graham, which opened at the 1999 Venice Biennale, then went on to play at major galleries around the world.
With keen attention to detail, and the ability to capture arresting images, Robert has garnered numerous awards and accolades throughout the advertising arena. Most recently, Robert was bestowed an AICP honor for Best Visual Style on the original Audi TT campaign. Robert has directed spots for Volkswagen, Lexus, Comdisco, Lincoln Financial, Ford and Michelob. Robert most recently completed the feature, All God’s Children Can Dance, which is currently capturing audiences and critics attention on the festival circuit.
