A Wisconsin native, Bob Purman began in still photography and then switched to study motion picture film while at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with further study at the University of Minnesota. With an additional background as an editor he has primarily been a director/cameraman since 1987. He specializes in filming real people and applying his documentary background to advertising work.
Having directed hundreds of television commercials with RYP Filmworks and True North Productions, in 1995 Bob also signed for representation with Moxie Pictures (Hollywood/New York) for U.S. and through Imported Artists (Toronto) for Canadian representation. Since then he has directed spots for Lays, The Canadian Egg Marketing Board, McDonalds, Petro Canada, The Home Depot, Kellogg’s, Chevrolet, Tylenol, Wachovia, Bell, Saturn, Post Cereal, Purina Pedigree, GM, Ameritech, Underwriters Laboratories, AOL, Quaker Oats, Carling Beer, American Civil Liberties Union, etc.
Bob’s received three Emmy Awards for Direction and Cinematography for two of his films. He has also won two Best of Show awards from the Milwaukee Advertising Club. Other awards include a Telly award, as well as multiple local and regional Addies.
